1. Introductions:
Software piracy can be defined as using commercial software in many computers without registration with Provider Company (David, 1999). Software piracy is illegal and this activity breaks the copyright law. The using of software piracy is so widespread in over the world. According to the Business Software Alliance survey, the percentage of illegal software worldwide was 35% in 2007. In some regions such as Easter and Central Europe, Middle Earth and Asia Pacific, the rate of unlicensed software is, more than half of computer software are used. This survey also figured out that some nationals had the highest rate of using illegal software. For example, the percentages of software piracy in Vietnam stood at the top with 90% in 2006, and it slightly decreased from 2% to 88% in 2007.

Users all over the world have many ways to copy and use software without registration. Some common forms of piracy methods are listed in the website of Adobe Company (, Anti Piracy). For example, licensed user can copy software for another user without buying number of licenses (Adobe website). In another way, many website distribute illegal software to their members, so many free software in Internet can be downloaded (Adobe website). As a result, copying software is so easy, Matthew from BBC said that. However, this problem can be solved with cooperation between software providers, the Government, and User. Therefore, this paper, with the purpose of helping improve people awareness about using software, discusses the question of why many people using illegal software instead of licenses software, what is the effect of these methods and what is the solution for serious matters.

2. Discussion of finding

2.1. The reasons of using illegal software

Users all over the world have many reasons to explain why they do not choose original and license software. In the result, there are some common reasons are showed in the research of NUS in Singapore in 2006. From this survey, 95% response of people chose pirated software because they are much cheaper than original software or free (, Software Piracy, Reasons). They state that the original software is very expensive and they cannot afford to purchase, however, the cost of pirated software is much cheaper and the quality is not so bad. For many users, that is no logic in buying license software when illegal software can be downloaded easily and freely in Internet or can be bought with small money (, Software Piracy, Reasons). In another way, some multinational software companies are not flexible with respect to licensing policies (Study on copyright piracy in India, Chapter V). Many software companies such as Microsoft, Symantec or Apple distribute their software and service in many countries with difference in purchasing power of a country (Study on copyright piracy in India, Chapter V). Therefore, they do not have any policy about price for developing and poor country and the consequence of this activity is many poor countries like Vietnam, Zimbabwe stood at the first of BSA survey about Software Piracy over the world.

2.2 The effect of using illegal software
Software piracy is illegal and it has many impacts on economical consequences. Many big software companies lost the revenues when each their software is sold in markets like pirated software, without license and registration (NUS, ). According to BSA survey, worldwide losses from pirated software increased 20% or more than $8 billion from 2006 and 2007 (Piracy Study, 2007).
